This is Personal…Really Personal

Share it.

There’s certain things in life we aren’t always open to sharing. For some of us it’s our age, our weight, our family history, emotional struggles. I’m right with you, I understand, and I get it. Some things are private and we can choose what those things are and how we approach them.

But there’s one thing I know a lot of people are afraid of sharing  that they shouldn’t be and that’s their business.

When I started my business, it was my baby. It was my life. It was my future. I wanted to hold on to every little part of it and do everything myself. But I quickly realized that’s not how it works.

It’s impossible to do it all yourself and do it effectively.

Outsourcing is okay.

Let me say that again.

Outsourcing is okay!

It’s productive and important for your growth.

I know money. I understand it. It makes sense to me. My brain just works that way. I can look at a P&L and give you information on it in minutes. I’m an expert at this, just as you are an expert at YOUR craft.

Tax time is over. WHEW! But, now it’s back to the grind. And if you don’t know your numbers as of today, you’re in trouble. So what will you do about it?

There Are Experts in Fields for a Reason.

I know it’s hard to think about delegating your bookkeeping and financial tasks to an outsider. I consistently hear things like…

“It makes me feel vulnerable knowing someone has all my financial information.”

“I don’t trust anyone else to do this but myself.”

“They will pass judgment and tell me what I’m doing wrong and I can’t accept that.”

Valid concerns, but ones that I promise, are not true.

When I shared my business and invited a team into my life to assist me, I felt less vulnerable and scared and more supported and secure.

When I trusted someone else to handle a task and they did it, and did it much better than I would have done it, I got off my high horse and realized I’m not #1 and there are experts in fields for a reason.

Grow, Grow, Grow.

I never judge another person’s business model or lifestyle. My only goal is helping them organize, understand and use their numbers to their advantage so they can grow, grow, grow!

If your books are being neglected because you’re busy, outsource.

If payroll takes up your entire Friday, outsource.

If just looking at the Excel logo makes you ill, outsource.

Give yourself time to work with existing and new clients, to attend events, and stop worrying about the day-to-day number minutia. It’s still your job to know your numbers. You’ll never be in the dark about that. But letting someone else arm you with the correct and accurate information saves you time and enables you to plan for the future, instead of just the present moment.

Your value lies in your passion.  Do what you do best and let others do what they do best.

Sounds simple, but so often, it’s not the way we handle life.

If you want to talk, no obligation, just schedule some time with me on my calendar. If you have fears or uncertainties around this topic, let’s hash them out. I would love to hear why you are struggling with the decision to outsource or why you’re ready to take the leap.

Until next month!
