Mixing Together.

No, I’m not talking about a new surf and turf recipe in a crockpot, even though planning a new crockpot recipe sounds pretty perfect right now (snow is predicted yet again – this time in APRIL??!), but I am talking about business and pleasure.

More often than not, you hear NOT to mix the two. And yes, on some occasions it’s best to keep them separate, but in my case, I’m talking about travel.

As I write this, I’m sitting in the airport in California, where I’ve been for the past few days visiting my daughter.

It was a fantastic visit with my family, but I also made time for business meetings and networking.

In both February and March, I made a few trips to Houston, TX. I worked with business connections in the area, met with potential clients, and had time to visit with my father and brother.

Business travel doesn’t JUST have to be business, it can include visiting family, meeting up with friends, taking a scenic tour, staying in a new city, you name it.

If you plan around the pleasure, business tends to find a way to fit right in!

Last week, I went to the Phillies Home Opener, which they lost unfortunately. I went with a business colleague of mine who has contacts that may need my services. I’m a big Phillies fan and I loved combining one of my passions with business.

April is Stress Awareness Month and it’s something we all need to examine in our lives. If you’re feeling overstressed, this might be the perfect time to plan that trip you’ve been dreaming of taking. Figure out a way to get a few business meetings on the agenda and you’ll return with a new attitude, motivation and feeling relaxed and reenergized.

On another note…tax time is over. Yes!!

If you haven’t filed yet, make sure you get an extension and talk to your accountant immediately about your options.
