I know. The weather is getting colder and you don’t want to venture out to that networking event. But it’s worth it. Get out there. Be seen. Go to the holiday events. Look for business networking events on Meetup or EventBrite. There is always a business event going on near you everyday at different times.
If you have people to follow-up with, make some phone calls. Even if it’s just a simple Happy Holidays or asking them what their holiday travel plans look like. You will make good connections or find someone to refer you in the future. Touching base is great and maybe you’ll get a chat scheduled for January. If someone realizes they want to get something in place before the year is over, they’ll be glad you called.
I love buying gifts for my family, it’s always more fun to give a gift you know the other person is going to love. Don’t forget about yourself and your business. Have you invoiced your clients for all the work you did? Are there unpaid invoices out there? Call your client and figure out what they can do. A monthly payment plan? A weekly payment plan? It’s always better to have cash coming in at a slower amount than not at all.
Prepay for subscriptions, apps, software, etc. that you need for the coming year and get the tax deduction now. Also, if you pay in advance, you may get a month or two free. I just did that with the MileIQ app.
Make an appointment with your tax accountant and your financial planner BEFORE December 31. Plan now for the future. Set yourself up for long-term success by setting up an IRA / Self-employment plan or other retirement plans.
As always, if you want to chat, schedule a session with me. We can talk about your goals for the end of the year and your plans for the next one.
Until next month!
