Connections, coincidences, all those little moments in your life that you might not think relate to one another, usually come completely full circle.
From our past… like the time I was on a family vacation as a kid and came out of the rental house to see my aunt (who wasn’t with us on that trip) walking right toward me. It just so happened she was there at the same exact time. To the time I needed a referral on a matter just the other day and asked one of my connections, who ended up connecting me with someone I went to high school with and already knew!
To our present…like the new client I just signed that came from my relationship with The Main Line Chamber and the Rotary to the person I was talking to through another client that recognized my last name and ended up having worked with my ex-husband.
To our future…like how I was speaking to someone with a familiar name recently and realized he was the grandson of someone I knew growing up – the next generation.
You know how it goes. You go into a meeting and suddenly you see a former co-worker or a friend of a friend you met at a party once. It’s a small world and that is especially true in business.
Why are we talking about this?
Because relationships and connections are the solid foundation for everything we do. It’s a huge part of the growth of my business and something my business coach has been talking to me about for years.
Are you paying attention to the relationships in your business? Are you talking to your clients? Are you getting on calls with your team? Are you listening to your vendors? Are you making sure you are all on the same page as the year comes to a close?
It’s easier to connect with people, but a connection and a relationship we forget about sometimes is the one we need to foster with our finances.
And again, it’s past, present and future.
Past…look at your outstanding invoices, your unpaid bills, your taxes. What needs to be done as you do your year-end planning.
To your present…look at current expenses, did you stay within your budget, what needs to be adjusted?
To your future….what do your financial goals look like for 2022? Have you forecasted your growth? Are you set up and ready?
You never know where or when a business opportunity might come your way. Be respectful to everyone you meet and don’t burn bridges. All connections are valuable.
Have a conversation if something doesn’t sit right with you. It’s always more beneficial to keep relationships solid rather than get angry or upset over an issue that can most likely be discussed and solved.
Take the time to get to know people. We are all so rushed these days and with the holidays approaching, we will get even busier.
This is your simple reminder to cherish your connections and relationships – past, present and future and if you need a third party to help you navigate that relationship with your finances, I’m here!
