Celebrating SIX years and reflecting on how it all happened

It was January 2012.

All my professional career to this point had been spent as an employee.

I’d worked in mainly Finance or IT for 30+ years in the Public Accounting, Pharmaceuticals, Staffing, Distribution and Non-Profit industries.

I never imagined I would NOT be an employee with a salary.

Anything else seemed pretty terrifying.

But sometimes, circumstances show you an entire new view of the world.

I had been “downsized” in October of 2011. The second time in a short time frame.

I was newly divorced.

I had a brand new home and mortgage.

My two children were in college.

And I was unemployed.

I did what everybody does. I sent resumes to anyone and everyone that was hiring, I spent countless hours online searching job boards, I told everybody I knew what my skill sets were in hopes they know of an opportunity.

Money started to dwindle.

How was I going to pay my next mortgage payment?

My Cobra had expired. I had no health insurance.

I was in a place I’d never been in.

Then one day, complete clarity came over me.

Why don’t I just start my own business?

So, I did it.

You see, when options are slim and all you have is the confidence in your abilities, adrenaline takes over and something inside you says, “Go for it.”

I registered FinOrg4U as a Pennsylvania LLC.  I focused on working with elderly who could no longer read bills or write checks. I also began a path of learning. I figured out QuickBooks and then began reaching out to companies realizing that if I could navigate the largest ERP systems in the world – SAP, PeopleSoft and Oracle, an accounting system on a desktop computer was not going to be an issue.

I networked.

I joined local organizations.

I talked to everyone.

I was constantly meeting new people.

My business grew, however, not enough to pay my personal bills.

Then, I met Ivy Slater, a business coach extraordinaire, who asked me what I did.

This meeting led to a long-term business relationship (still going strong today) where she has continued to ask what I want from my business and what I can deliver. She has always believed in me and always pushes me to do more, because I can!!

Within that year, Andersson Productivity Solutions was born.

I provided solutions for companies (and some individuals) to make them more productive in the accounting and systems side of the business. I revised my website and hired a Virtual Assistant. The number of clients increased, as did my revenue, and I even hired a few people to be the bookkeepers for my clients.

It all happened so organically. I really had to pinch myself a few times. This was really happening. My new normal was acting as a CEO for my own business. The thought of it still gives me goosebumps.

Almost two years ago, I changed the name of the company again to Price Turner CFOs, reflecting my family background, incorporating the company services, as well as the professionalism and integrity that is inherent in everything I do.

In 2017, the company surpassed a major revenue milestone.

We now have 7 bookkeepers, a virtual assistant, a social media copywriter and guru and a very professional website with videos and testimonials.

The team is virtual, as are most of my clients, which allows for flexibility in scheduling and pricing and a connection without being physically present. Clients hail from locations all over the USA like, CA, CO, GA, FL, NJ, NY, PA, and TX!

This month, we celebrate six years. And as fate would have it, my good friend and business coach Ivy is celebrating ten years in her business.

I am ecstatic to be the CEO of Price Turner CFOs, a company that provides outsourced financial transactional processing and special projects for small and medium-sized companies within the US!

If I could only tell myself six years ago that it would all turn out alright. What a ride!

These 6 years have been filled with tremendous growth, frustration and lessons. And I know there is so much more to come.

Thank you to my team for putting up with my quirkiness and exactness, thank you to Ivy for pushing me past where I think I can go, thank you to my clients for allowing me to be your partner in your business and thank you for your endless support.

Here’s to the next milestone. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
