I’ve had a lot of reflective moments recently that I wanted to share with all of you. So MAY I reflect. Just a little play on words for you.
It was a full circle experience for me earlier this month. I haven’t attended many live events just yet, but when the Women-Owned Law Symposium came back around, I knew I wanted to attend and be there in-person. It was the last conference back in 2020 that I attended and then days later we were in the midst of the lockdown. It all felt so strange. Sitting in the room with so many powerful women at the event this year made me realize how much I miss the energy of live events. It was lovely to get back to one and I even got to see my business coach, Ivy, and many other women in my networking circle. Ivy and I below! It was certainly a moment to be thankful for, that we can be in-person again, and a reminder of how quickly two years have gone by and all the events and people we missed. It’s been a stressful month as I recently found out I have Atrial Fibrillation, or as many call it, A-Fib, and it even landed me in the hospital for a few days. It’s simply an irregular heart rate that can cause poor blood flow and something I need to monitor, but I am doing just fine. My team stepped up and stepped in without any hesitation. My clients were also extremely understanding and called and emailed to check in on me. And of course, my family was right there for anything I needed. It’s important for me to reflect back on that and it gives me a great sense of pride knowing that I have such a supportive group of people around me, both professionally and personally. I am also grateful to live in an area where I have access to some of the best medical facilities and top-notch doctors. Speaking of family, I’ll be traveling this summer to visit some of my siblings and also spend time with my daughter who lives out-of-state. Luckily, I get to see my son often as he lives close by. Family is truly everything. Being able to enjoy time with them and still work is one of the greatest joys of this entrepreneurial life. We need the downtime and the fun to stay motivated and excited about what is ahead. I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to continue to work and travel, simultaneously. I encourage anyone who can work from anywhere to take the trip! Remember when we were kids and summer time came!? That feeling of freedom, knowing we had the next three months off of school?! We deserve that same enthusiasm as adults and should find ways to bring that joy into our lives. |
