We are waking up to foggy mornings and cooler weather. October is here and 2021 is coming to a close quickly. I can’t believe it.
The world overall still feels foggy. The pandemic, the winter, cold and flu season, the school year, getting back to the office or remaining remote, etc.
For me personally, brain fog has also been part of my life. We all feel a little of this from time to time, but mine has been very noticeable and I’ve been taking every precaution to ensure I get back to 100%. My team has stepped in to help me as I navigate this time and I’m so grateful for their help and support.
Scary season should be about Halloween, NOT our health. This month, World Mental Health Day, was held on the 10th and the goal is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilize efforts in support of mental health.
Taking care of ourselves is vital. This is your reminder to do what you want to do and what makes you feel comfortable. I’ve missed many events this year that were held in-person and it hasn’t affected my networking or business development at all because everyone has been so respectful. Ensure you are doing the same for those around you that might not be able to attend the event or make the dinner.
If you can attend in-person events, look at the nonprofits you are affiliated with. They are really in need of volunteers right now. Nonprofits often have remote needs, as well, such as canvassing seniors for a weekly check-in or providing resources to those in need.
The Upper Main Line Rotary Club just held an OUTDOOR Oktoberfest, with over 600 people in attendance over an 8-hour period with many Covid precautions. The activity netted over $25,000 that will be given to local and national charities in the coming months. I did not attend physically, however I am the Treasurer of the organization (of course!) and kept track of the money raised and all the expenses. Above is a photo from when I did attend in 2019!
This month is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As a 15 + year breast cancer survivor, getting regular cancer screenings and keeping regular doctor appointments in order has always been something I do and encourage others in my life to do.
No matter what you are dealing with – from a physical illness to Zoom fatigue, take time to rest and reduce stress. I recently bought an electric bike to stay active and keep myself safe.
Another thing that can be scary is money and finances. I know it’s not everyone’s favorite topic and it’s why I am here to help if you want to chat about your business goals in the 4th quarter.
This is a good time to take a look at your customers and clients. Is it time to raise prices? Are there problem clients that aren’t making payments? Are you finding joy in your work? Is forecasting and budgeting becoming a burden?
There hasn’t been normalcy in our lives for what feels like quite a long time. I hang on to the past sometimes because it makes me smile. My adult daughter couldn’t believe I still have and USE this Halloween decoration she made in middle school. Check out pictures below.
While nostalgia is great, the future is coming and we have to be prepared. This month, take care of your body, your mind, your wellbeing, your finances and your business. I’m here for you.
